With Flora's Blanket, we worked on talking about the rooms of the house, since the main character, Flora, is looking for her blanket. We also learned about furniture items and identified if an item was "furniture" or "not furniture." Click below for an aided language board we used during the reading and then retelling of this fun book!
With Bee-Bim-Bop, we talked about cooking and making a recipe. Click here for a link to the animated version of this book from the popular children's show Between The Lions. Bee Bim Bop is a Korean dish made with egg and rice. This story has repetition that is a lot of fun to "read" along with. As an extension activity, we made our own recipe---ice cream. Click below for a visual recipe of the ice cream we made with an ice cream maker. FYI--The proportions were: 1 cup millk, 2 cups cream, 1 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

First, lets review what your children have been learning at school! Using our new curriculum, "Little Treasures," we have used numerous literacy resources to teach your children. Two of these resources are: "Flora's Blanket" by Debi Gliori and "Bee Bim Bop" by Linda Sue Park.
